Warrick Help: Use Windows filenames? Home

Warrick saves each resource it recovers to disk using the name of the resource. But if you are running Windows (Windows 98, XP, Vista, etc.), there are some characters that might appear in the name of the resource that Windows will not accept. For example, if the resource is called foo.org/test?123, Windows will not allow the '?' character to be used in the filename. Therefore, if you are going to open the recovered files on a Windows system, you need to set this option to Yes so the filenames do not contain illegal characters. If you are not using Windows, you can switch this option to No.

The table below lists the characters that not allowed in Windows filenames and the characters that Warrick uses as a substitute in the name of the file:

Illegal CharConverted to
?@
|%7C
:+
"%22
*%2A
<%3C
>%3E

So the resource foo.org/test?12"3 would be saved as foo.org/test@12%223.
